Visiting Professor of Biomedical Engineering Technology (part time); Phoenix Campus

DeVry University in Phoenix is pleased to announce an immediate opening

for a Visiting Professor of Biomedical Engineering Technology.

This part-time teaching position will instruct undergraduate students in subject matter that includes:

Physiological bioinstrumentation and informatics Bio-engineering processes and tools Bio-medical equipment and instrumentation (calibration, maintenance, repair/certification) Medical imaging technology Digital imaging and telemedicine The typical course of instruction may include:

  • Biomedical Equipment and
  • Instrumentation with Lab
  • Medical Imaging Technology with Lab
  • Telemedicine and Medical Informatics with Lab
Our immediate opening begins on May 1 and ends on June 24. Class sessions are 8 weeks in length.

The Visiting Professor:

  • Develops and provides students with an approved DeVry University syllabus that follows a template established by the local campus, and which includes the terminal course objectives.
  • Organizes, prepares, and regularly revises and update all course materials.
  • Uses technological options for online technologies and course-related software, including Websites, e-mail, and online discussions for preparing the course and making it accessible to students.
  • Models effective oral and written communications that engage the students, provide clarity, and improve student learning.
  • Sets clear expectations for the course by publishing course terminal objectives, assignment/examinations dates, and weight the distribution of various evaluation categories.
  • Engages a diverse student body comprised of a variety of ages, cultural backgrounds, ethnicities and academic preparation
  • Foster a positive learning environment by keeping accurate records, submitting grades on time, and enforcing academic and attendance policies

Requirements for this opportunity include:

  • Masters level degree in a closely related discipline is required. Education would typically include a combination of electrical engineering and biomedical engineering. A MS degree in Bioengineering/Bioengineering Technology, Biomedical Engineering/Biomedical Engineering Technology is preferred.
  • Higher education teaching experience is preferred
  • Faculty must have requisite subject matter expertise and outstanding communication skills
  • Faculty must have excellent motivational and instructional skills in a diverse and non-traditional environment
  • Must be able to work in a collegial manner and facilitate the efforts of diverse groups
  • Can provide official transcripts for all earned degrees from a regionally accredited institution
