Senior Business Systems Analyst
Summary of the Position
A primary responsibility for this position is to identify and implement business process improvements for the Division of Student Affairs. The incumbent acts in the role of liaison and/or project manager with regard to Information technology projects and initiatives that cross divisional lines. Thus position is responsible for fulfilling divisional needs for operational data, performance metrics and compliance reporting (NCAA, Immunizations, Clery). The incumbent supports Student Affairs staff in optimizing the use of Banner and other business applications. The incumbent's responsibilities include providing day to day support, developing documentation and providing training for Student Affairs Staff.
This is a part-time position: 17.5 hours per week.
Business Process Improvement (BPI) - 30 % Define and document Student Affairs business requirements for processes, services and products. Analyze existing processes to provide actionable insights and recommendations to the division and design new processes where needed. Lead and support process improvement initiatives that deliver procedures, policies, activities, services and products that benefit students and staff. Create and maintain clear and understandable process documentation. Communicate regularly with key stakeholders on process and policy changes, data requirements and technology needs. Business Intelligence (BI) - 30% Ensure the availability and accuracy of Student Affairs information for query, reporting and analysis. Develop requirements for Student Affairs content in the data warehouse and insure that the BI model supports divisional needs.
Integrate unrelated sources of information to enable complex reporting and analysis that is not supported by disparate applications and data repositories. Develop and maintain a portfolio of reports, queries and dashboards to convey key operational information, measure departmental efficiency and effectiveness, and comply with NCAA, Clery Act and other mandated reporting. Respond to ad hoc requests for information or statistics to support departmental activities or to communicate divisional needs and accomplishments. Project Management (PM) - 20% Lead or coordinate intra and cross divisional business projects. In particular, those projects related to process improvements or the extension of business intelligence capabilities and products. Provide project management (solely or in conjunction with an IT project manager) for projects related to the acquisition and implementation of new technology or software applications within the division.
Liaison to IT and Other Divisions – 10% Serve as the liaison to Information Technology where Student Affairs initiatives involve the implementation or upgrading of applications and technology and to other departments where our business processes intersect. Divisional Documentation and Training – 10%. Develop and deliver documentation, training and support to insure that processes, policies and products are understood and utilized by Student Affairs Staff
Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience Requirements)
Bachelors required; Masters preferred. 10-15 years of experience in a technical and/or academic setting. Expertise in business systems analysis, systems development life cycle, project management and business intelligence. Experience with Banner, Workday, Blackboard, ARMS, ISSM, MEDICAT and other applications utilized within Student Affairs preferred Skilled in the use of SQL, PL/SQL Developer, Oracle, Cognos 10 Business Intelligence Suite, Crystal Reports, MS Office 10, MS Outlook and other tools to extract, analyze and deliver data
