Associate Professor/Professor and Senior Associate Dean for Education
The University of Missouri School of Medicine (MU SOM) in Columbia invites applications and nominations for the position of Senior Associate Dean for Education.
The Senior Associate Dean for Education will be charged with leading an outstanding medical education program at a LCME-accredited medical school. For twenty plus years, MU SOM has employed a medical curriculum utilizing patient cases to emphasize clinical reasoning, self-directed learning and teamwork. A patient-based learning (PBL) curriculum teaches medical students the basic sciences in the context of a physician approach. The MU SOM medical education program has achieved excellent outcomes including a 100% match rate for the class of 2016 and student performance on both NBME Step 1 and Step 2 board exams that are well above the national average. MU SOM has recently expanded its medical student class size by 32 students through establishing a Springfield clinical campus that will serve 64 students in their M3 and M4 years. To accommodate these class size increases, MU SOM is finalizing the construction of a 97,000 square foot building at a cost of 42.5 million, The Patient-Centered Care learning Center (PCCLC), which will open in the summer of 2017.
The successful candidate will be a visionary educational leader committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive culture who will advance the School of Medicine’s educational mission. The candidate will be expected to promote further curricular innovation, conduct and foster research in medical education, provide mentorship for faculty career development, facilitate collaboration among all education programs, and provide leadership for continuous quality improvement in all aspects of MU SOM’s educational mission.
Qualifications: Qualified individuals will have an MD, MD/PhD, or MD/EdD with a proven record of educational scholarship at a LCME-accredited medical school and be qualified for appointment as a Professor. There should be a demonstrated record of promoting collaboration and cultivating both internal and external relations. The candidate must demonstrate the highest integrity and personal ethics and have a strong commitment to diversity and inclusivity.
Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
