The University of West Georgia Tanner Health System School of Nursing: The UWG Tanner Health System School of Nursing strives for “educational excellence in a caring environment” with approximately 500 students in graduate and undergraduate programs and locations in Carrollton and Newnan. SON instructional facilities are state of the art, with a new 64,000 sf. building in Carrollton and a 9,000 sf nursing lab, instructional and simulation suite at the new Newman Center, about 25 miles from Carrollton. The pre- licensure BSN program, offered in Newnan and Carrollton, features an innovative concept-based BSN curriculum with excellent outcomes. The RN-BSN program, a 17 credit hour, two semester curriculum, is 100% online. Our graduate programs are completely online and have been ranked in the top 50 online programs by the US News and World Report for the past four years. The MSN offers tracks in Nursing Education or Health Systems Leadership with an option for the AACN Clinical Nurse Leader Role. The EdD in Nursing Education program, which admitted its fifth cohort Fall of 2016, is an innovative program designed to prepare nurses for the faculty role.
Position Description: Non-tenure track full time academic year faculty appointments are positions with appointments as clinical assistant professor, clinical associate professor or a clinical professor. Positions are available with a start of August 1, 2017. Responsibilities include: Undergraduate teaching in online and traditional classroom settings, simulation, laboratory and clinical instruction, and scholarly productivity in a supportive environment.
Qualifications: Applicants are required to hold a Master’s degree in nursing with clinical background in specialty area(s), an earned doctorate in Nursing or a related field preferred. The candidate must have an active RN license to practice nursing in the state of Georgia (or eligible). Previous nursing undergraduate teaching experience, certification in a clinical specialty, evidence of a scholarly program broadly defined, and on-line teaching experience is preferred. Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience.
