Duties: The University of Pennsylvania English Language Programs (ELP) offers instruction in English as a second or international language and exposure to the cultures of the United States. The Language Specialist teaches in ELP programs and coordinates custom and/or open enrollment short programs. When and as assigned s/he assists in the development of course curricula. S/he assists in curriculum upkeep and course management. S/he interacts with students formally and informally. S/he assists in orientation, testing and placement activities, and mentors, lead, and orients part-time instructors. S/he contributes to the general planning for the ELP, and serves on committees and task forces
Qualifications: A Master's Degree or more in TESOL and 2 years to 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Experience teaching adults in a university setting strongly preferred. Experience coordinating short programs strongly preferred. Must demonstrate flexibility, adaptability, the ability to work cooperatively as part of a team and a willingness to embrace new teaching challenges related to all types of EAP and ESP.
