Reporting to the Director of Admissions for Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, the Associate Director of Admissions I (ADA) is responsible for recruiting, building prospective student and applicant pipeline, raising brand awareness, interviewing, and enrolling new students into the three veterinary school classes each year. The ADA is assigned a territory of multiple territories within Canada with complete and independent accountability for recruiting prospective students and developing relationships with feeder pre-health programs to build market awareness and trust. The ADA is the primary recruiting position for the University and directly impacts the enrollment and profitability of the institution. The ADA works remotely 100% of the time and travels 80% of the time, representing the University at campuses and recruiting events throughout their region. ADA's interact on a daily basis with science Ph.D. faculty, chairs, and deans across the country.

This position will be remote and will cover all of Canada.

• Works independently and remotely 100% of the time to generate new prospective student leads through national open house and on-campus presentations, graduate/career fairs/conferences, and the development of college career advisor and pre-vet club relationships. Serves as an advisor to prospective students in regards to the University and its policies and requirements. Travel requirement is 80%; up to 100% percent of travel is overnight travel covering Canada or assignments overseas to our campuses. ADAs must utilize air travel as required; each territory has areas best/only reached by air because of multiple day driving distance or geographical barriers.
• Exercises independent judgment in conducting professional, probing and challenging interviews of candidates for admission to the veterinary program. In conjunction with the personal interview, reviews academic transcripts and supporting credentials in order to make a recommendation to the admissions committee. ADAs must defend their recommendation for admission with a written report to a panel of DVMs faculty members that comprise the veterinary admissions committees, being sure to highlight often hidden clues as to the applicant's preparedness and determination to enter veterinary school. Applicants recommended for denial by the ADAs are denied without further review; in this manner, the ADAs help safeguard the standards of our university and its role as an access point to the US veterinary system.
• Advises the manager on recruiting trends and developments gleaned from recruiting visits and discussions with their regional staff.
• Presents as assigned at national Open Houses.
• Develops and maintains relationships with new students including: follow-up and soliciting feedback from students on their admissions progress, encouraging enrollment, prepare students for matriculation, and responding to student requests for various forms of material. Serves as a contact and resource person for all admitted students from their territory.
• Provides information to new students and is highly knowledgeable about the University's mission, history, curriculum, academic policies, campuses, and faculty.
• Accompanies advisors on visits to campuses as assigned.
• Travels overseas to campuses as assigned to maintain and continually improve understanding of medical education and, specifically, our unique operations.
• Updates and maintains inquiry databases and applicant databases
• Completes other projects and duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree desirable.
  • 5+ years of previous admissions experience preferred.
  • Management experience required.
  • Keen mind, excellent negotiator with a strong work ethic; has high energy and is committed team player with excellent leadership capabilities.

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills are required.
