The Department of Agriculture and Veterinary Technology at Alfred State College invites qualified applicants for a full-time, 10-month tenure track position beginning in August 2017.
The ideal candidate will have a background in agricultural business, the desire to teach a wide variety of courses and the ability to engage industry in support of the teaching programs. Additional experience in animal science is preferred. Candidate should also possess excellent writing and oral communication skills, willingness to work as part of a team, and a commitment to undergraduate teaching and mentoring.
The successful candidate will teach various courses in agricultural business, according to experience and interest, including but not limited to Farm and Rural Business Management, Agricultural Marketing, and other courses in the candidate's area of interest. Agriculture and Veterinary Technology faculty members also assist in advising of undergraduate students, attend faculty and department meetings, and participate in curriculum development. Additional responsibilities include remaining current and relevant in one's field of expertise; posting and maintaining regular office hours; serving on faculty committees as assigned or elected; participating professional development activities; assisting in development of departmental objectives and learning outcomes, and fulfilling other departmental functions as needed.
The ideal candidate will have PhD in a field related to agriculture with experience in business and animal science. We will also consider a candidate with a DVM and significant business management experience. Master's degree candidates will also be considered.
