Duties: Reporting to the Director of Financial Operations, EVD, the Associate Director (henceforth AD) for the Office of the Masters Programs (henceforth OMP) is responsible for academic and operational aspects of eight PSOM master degree (MS) programs. The AD serves as the primary source of information for programs on policy and procedures in PSOM and ensures that the school's administrative/educational procedures are in line with its core mission and university policies. The AD contributes to setting the direction of the school's internal academic and policy development for programs and administrative operations.

These programs currently consist of about 75 faculty and 400 students. The AD is charged with ensuring that all community constituents, including faculty, students, and administrative staff, are provided with key information regarding Penn and PSOM policies for MS students and that they receive crucial support in their educational training activities. The AD also partners in the development of existing and new programs within PSOM, including guiding a new program through the school and university approval process.

The AD ensures program and Penn specific compliance of all aspects of student records, including: registration, grading, billing, transfers, withdrawals, leave, and graduation. The AD creates and delivers the new coordinator orientation program, serves as their content area expert, organizes and hosts the coordinator committee meetings, and updates the PSOM academic/operational SOP's/policies.

The AD supports the Associate Dean in the on-going program reviews of PSOM MS degrees and organizes the PSOM MS Faculty Advisory Committee meetings. The AD is responsible for reporting and analysis of student data, tuition distribution, and faculty teaching effort.

Qualifications: The minimum of a Master's Degree and 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

The successful candidate will be a collaborative professional with a team approach to problem-solving and the communication, leadership, management, and planning skills necessary to collaborate productively with staff, faculty, students and the community. Candidates must also demonstrate knowledge familiarity with professional programs and their standards, assessments, and evaluations. A commitment to the highest level of academic and personal integrity, high academic standards, diversity and intercultural understanding, interdisciplinary and experiential learning, and continued professional development is essential.

Outstanding communication skills, with ability to communicate with both internal and external constituencies; thorough understanding of trends in adult and non-traditional higher education. Be knowledgeable of trends influencing online and onsite graduate enrollment and proactively address opportunities. Ability to work with web-based learning and management systems; willingness to learn and apply new technologies as needed. Keep abreast of Department of Education rules and regulations.

Ability to take initiative and independently problem-solve, manage and drive complex projects to completion; ability to meet deadlines and to work independently, yet collaboratively, within a goal-oriented team environment. Exercise considerable judgment in performance of duties; represent the office with professionalism when carrying out tasks and when interacting with others. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to organize and prioritize assignments and work effectively with diverse groups; highly detail oriented; flexible and productive under pressure. Ability to work with web-based learning and management systems; willingness to learn and apply new technologies as needed.
