RESOURCE TECHNOLOGIST B/C
Duties: The University of Pennsylvania Vector Core is a state of the art facility which provides vectors and vector-related services in support of basic, preclinical and translational research. The Core is currently accepting applications from candidates interested in nucleic acid technologies including the design, construction, characterization and sequence analysis of plasmid and genomic DNA for gene therapy applications.
Specifically, the Resource Technologist B will be responsible for the design, construction, amplification and characterization of vector constructs for gene therapy applications; the Resource Technologist C will, in addition, be responsible for the design and construction of vector constructs for in vivo gene editing application and and quality control of libraries for the next generation sequencing of viral based vector constructs. The candidate will have regular contact with researchers within the Gene Therapy Program and report directly to the Associate Director of the Nucleic Acid Technology Core.
Position is contingent on continued funding.
Qualifications: Resource Technologist B:
BSc and 3-5 years relevant laboratory experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, are required
Resource Technologist C:
BSc and 5-7 years of relevant laboratory experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, are required.
* Experience in molecular biology methods required
* Next generation sequencing experience preferred
* Independent thinker, meticulous, detail-oriented, and analytical
* Ability to work as part of a team
* Excellent oral/written communication skills required
