RESEARCH SPECIALIST A
Duties: Research Specialist A will work in the area of neurotrauma and neural tissue engineering research using animal models and cell culture. Studies will include neurosurgical procedures (brain and peripheral nerve) in both large animal and rodent models, functional assessment, and tissue processing and immunohistochemistry. Other tasks will include surgical preparation, microscopy, data recording and analysis, lab and equipment maintenance, supply inventory and ordering and general lab duties.
Position is contingent on continued funding.
Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree in Neuroscience, Biology, Biomedical Engineering or closely related field and 0 to 1 year of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. The successful candidate should be a highly motivated individual with some previous laboratory experience (animal model experience preferred but not required). The candidate should possess strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as familiarity with analyzing, graphing and presenting data. Attention to detail, organizational skills, reliability, ability to work independently and willingness to work cooperatively with others is extremely important.
