The Chabot-Las Positas Community College District is seeking an Instructor, Administration of Justice for Chabot College in Hayward, California. This position is a Temporary Leave Replacement for one year, 2017-2018 Academic Year. The position reports to the Division Dean.

This is a grant/categorically funded position. Continuation of this position is contingent upon available funding on a year to year basis.

Representative Duties

1. Teach college-level courses in Introduction to Administration of Justice, Criminal Investigation, Investigative Report Writing, Criminal Law and other courses in the curriculum.

2. Demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching.

3. Serve as a liaison to local law enforcement agencies to develop internships and other work-based learning opportunities.

4. Take a leadership role in developing regional occupational programs and engage in community outreach.

5. Develop new curriculum and articulation in collaboration with other college disciplines and four-year universities.

6. Participate in campus professional activities, including, but not limited to, committee membership and staff meetings.

7. Adapt instructional techniques to accommodate varied learning styles and abilities, including distance learning.

8. Teach late afternoon, evening and/or off campus when scheduled as part of the regular teaching assignment.

9. Interact successfully with others including social science faculty and college colleagues.

10. Take a leadership role in generating student interest in the Administration of Justice curriculum.

11. Advise students in the Administration of Justice major and the Law and Justice student club.

12. Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college students including those with physical or learning disabilities.

Minimum Education and Experience

Any bachelor’s degree and two years of professional experience, OR any associate degree and six years of professional experience.
