The Department of Psychology at The George Washington University invites applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the area of clinical psychology, with a specific focus on prevention science, to begin in the academic year 2016-2017. We seek a candidate who will complement existing strengths and developing areas of interest in the department and who has expertise in developing and studying interventions that promote health and prevent psychological problems or physical health conditions in youth or adult populations. This position will be integrated into GW's growing and vibrant research community that focuses on ameliorating health and mental health problems in underserved, urban communities, including the GW Center for AIDS Research. The candidate would join a diverse faculty that studies basic risk and protective mechanisms and preventive interventions related to HIV/AIDS, obesity, substance abuse, and depression in ethnically diverse and urban populations, nationally and internationally. Areas of interest could include, but are not limited to, HIV/AIDS, violence, cancer, substance abuse, and obesity. This individual would help develop and implement training within the clinical program that integrates basic and applied psychological science and prepares our graduate students for careers in translational research, program development, and program evaluation.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities: Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from an APA- or PCSAS-accredited clinical program (with an accredited clinical internship) and be licensed or license-eligible by the time of appointment.

Applicants should also have an outstanding record of scholarly publications and a history of extramural funding or exceptional promise commensurate with their career trajectory, and a commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching excellence as demonstrated by teaching evaluations.
