College Information:

The College of Education and Professional Studies currently has 100 full-time and over 100 part-time faculty organized in seven departments. The college offers 23 undergraduate majors and 28 graduate majors. All teacher education programs are CAEP accredited. Other programs are recognized at the state and national levels with accreditations by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), the American Dietetic Association (ADA), the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA), the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the National Council on Family Relations (NCFR), and the Oklahoma Commission for Teacher Preparation (OCTP). UCO’s College of Education and Professional Studies has an enrollment of nearly 4,800 students, about one-fourth of whom are graduate students. Position Summary:

Assistant Professors must have completed all requirements in a doctoral program at an accredited or internationally recognized institution; or completed a non-doctoral degree program requiring a minimum of 60 graduate hours. Teaching; research; departmental/school, college and university service is expected. This position is full-time, tenure-track position.

Department Specific Essential Job Functions:

The responsibilities of this position include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Social Studies, language arts and/or STEM education with emphasis on primary and middle school areas. Candidate may also be responsible for other course work in the elementary education program. In addition, responsibilities include supervision of pre-service teachers, maintaining data for the program assessment plan, completing electronic portfolio assessments, completing state required annual public school experience, maintaining a current knowledge base in the field of elementary education, engaging in scholarly/creative activities and serving on committees at all levels of the University.


Salary Range: Commensurate with credentials and experience.
