The Department of Medical Imaging at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre is recruiting two full-time radiologists in Emergency and Trauma Radiology. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2017 or sooner.
Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (SHSC) is a fully affiliated hospital of the University of Toronto. SHSC is Canada's first and largest trauma program. With over 1,212 total beds, of which 677 are dedicated to acute care, SHSC provides a wide complement of adult health services and has more than 42,000 emergency visits each year. This is the platform for the new Emergency & Trauma Radiology Division.
The candidate will be a central team member in this new division comprised of 5 staff radiologists. This individual is expected to take on a contributing role in interactions with the emergency and trauma programs. S/he will be an integral part of the teaching faculty of our Residency and Fellowship Programs including our trauma fellowship program. S/he must be a strong team player with a solid commitment to patient care, innovative research and teaching. There will be considerable collaboration with other specialties outside of Diagnostic Imaging as well as within.
The qualified applicant should be eligible for an academic appointment at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto, hold a Fellowship in Diagnostic Imaging from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or equivalent, and be eligible for medical licensure in the Province of Ontario, with sufficient experience to perform emergency and trauma radiology and additional work in one or more of the fields of Cardio-Thoracic, Abdominal or Neuroradiology. A year of fellowship training post-graduation is essential and a fellowship in Emergency Radiology is preferred. As an emergency & trauma radiologist, the qualified applicant should be proficient in reporting cases across all modalities and organ systems performed on patients in the emergency and trauma setting. Research interests in trauma, injury outcomes research and clinical epidemiology or health services are an asset. A willingness to perform after hours shift work is required.
Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience. Compensation is based on a fee-for-service model. The estimated income range will be $300,000 - $500,000 per annum for a full-time equivalent with opportunity for increased salary commensurate with experience and academic credentials.
