Job Description
Multiple Positions

The Telecommunications Operator assists in the operation of the police communications center; serves as the initial contact person responsible for monitoring fire and burglar alarm systems system-wide; notifies the proper officials and/or emergency contacts when alarm activations occur; monitors 9-1-1, TTY, and dispatches appropriate calls for service; and enters all activities into the CAD system in a timely manner.


Minimum Qualifications
-High school diploma and 2 years experience with voice communications systems or central switchboard operations. An associate degree in a technical communications discipline may be substituted for the required experience.
-18 years or older.

- Must be NCIC certified by SLED within six (6) months of hire and maintain certification. Must successfully complete the Basic Telecommunications Course held at the SC Criminal Justice Academy within one (1) year of hire date.

Works 12-hour shifts. Shifts are 7 am to 7 pm and 7 pm to 7 am, with every other weekend off. Works overtime as requested. Shifts subject to change.
