This position reports to the Student Health Center Director, and supports clinical and administrative staff.

Summary: Responsible for the development, organization, implementation, and marketing of health education efforts.

Planning, Policy Development & Implementation:
• Develop health education goals, programs to achieve these goals, and assessment methods to evaluate and measure the effectiveness of health promotion efforts.
• Collaborate with Wellness Center, Counseling Center, Dean of Students Office, Student Life, LGBTQ Student Resource Center, residential colleges, Greek organizations, academic units and other appropriate individuals and organizations, in order to design and implement well coordinated health promotion efforts.
• Recommend university-wide health education related policies.

• Design and implement educational programs and training on health related issues.
• Educate students and staff on immunization issues.
• Present topics for discussion to small and large groups on: sexually transmitted diseases, AIDS, alcohol and substance abuse, physical and mental health issues, smoking, and other issues pertinent to the health of University students.
• Organize and maintain resources of health education material for university students and health center staff, including electronic access to health education information.
• Develop and maintain the health education components of the Student Health Service website.
• Utilize Social Media to accomplish Health Education objectives.
• Designated Student Health Service representative for events requiring social media
• Establish liaisons with appropriate federal, state, and local health agencies on health related issues (i.e. Center for Disease Control/ Public Health Department).
• Coordinate activities related to special health theme events including the Fall and Spring Health Fair, National Nutrition Month, AIDS Awareness Week, Alcohol Awareness Week, and others.
• Provide support and leadership to health related student organizations (as requested).
• Advise the Student Health Advisory Committee (SHAC).
• Coordinate the Health Outreach Peer Educator (HOPE) program.

Budget and Finance:
• Accountable to the Manager of Budget and Personnel for Health Educator budget issues.
• Prepare, submit, and revise annual budget for Health Education. Monitor expenditures for health promotion efforts.
• Investigate the availability of federal and/or private grant funds for health education efforts.

• Bachelor’s degree in Health Education, Public Health or related field. Advanced degree, and minimum of three years experience in the coordination, design, and implementation of health education programs preferable.
• Excellent verbal skills, ability to present to individuals, and small and large groups.
• Excellent written skills, ability to write, and design health education materials.
• Computer literacy, including word processing, database programs.
• Graphic design and familiarity with Adobe Creative Suites is a plus.
• Able to work evenings and/or weekends for workshops and other events.
