Job Summary

Inspire Awesome with Eastern Washington University! We are currently seeking skilled and team-oriented applicants for the following position:

The Director of Eastern Online oversees, directs and manages the Eastern Online department as a coordinated effort with academic disciplines and in accordance with the mission and goals of Eastern Washington University. Position will be the liaison between Academic Affairs Online Learning and the Office of Information Technology's Online Production Team. The position is located on the Cheney, Washington campus. The position reports directly to the Associate Vice Provost of Outreach & Engagement. This position supervises the Eastern Online support staff.

In addition to oversight and management of the Eastern Online department, this position directs and identifies academic programs for online delivery, assists in the coordination of marketing of online programs, and plans and manages the online and hybrid initiatives.

This position is responsible for insuring the compliance of the University policies and procedures and state or federal mandates related to online course delivery. These tasks are to be performed in a manner that professionally, cordially and efficiently assists students, faculty and staff.

Required Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology or related field
  • Experience teaching online in higher education
  • Demonstrated management skills
  • Demonstrated interest, experience and/or ability to promote cultural competency and/or diversity


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in faculty training and development
  • Contemporary knowledge of instructional design and distance education practices
  • Working knowledge of presentational packages, multimedia software and web based instructional systems
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
