About the Position
We are seeking a Staff Accountant for one of our Atlanta clients headquartered near the (Perimeter area). The successful individual will be a highly-motivated, intelligent, team-oriented professional who can help us reach our goals. The Staff Accountant will report directly to the VP and Corporate Controller and will be responsible for financial statement preparation, monthly close entries, balance sheet analysis, and other projects as assigned. This is primarily a financial reporting position, but the accounting team is fairly small and all team members wear multiple hats.
•Assist with the month-end close and preparation of monthly financial reporting
•Maintain the general ledger to ensure that transactions are reflected properly and in accordance with internal and external reporting formats
•Ensure that assigned balance sheet accounts are reconciled and analyzed monthly in a timely and accurate manner
•Perform timely and accurate financial and operational analysis and reporting
•Provide timely and accurate operational support on a proactive basis
•Prepare audit schedules for interim and annual audits
•Respond to auditor questions
•Coordinate audit confirmations to customers, vendors and lenders
•Assist in compliance with Sarbanes Oxley internal controls requirements
•Prepare process documentation
•Perform testing of controls
•Assist with the implementation of a new financial system
•3-5 years accounting experience
•Accounting degree required
•Prior public auditing experience with the Big 4 OR a Staff Accountant in the corporate accounting department of a public company
•Strong understanding of GAAP
•Experience with GL operations and reporting - chart of accounts, account reconciliation and analysis, and internal financial reporting
•Demonstrated ability to improve the month-end close process
•Must be a process improvement-oriented individual with demonstrated success in continuously monitoring and improving the company's internal controls
•Excellent analytical, organizational, oral/written communication and customer relationship skills.
•Demonstrated expertise in financial systems, such as new financial systems implementations, integration of financial systems to other key corporate systems, etc
•Must be a strong Microsoft Excel user with an understanding of data analysis techniques. Knowledge of Access is a plus.
•Must be capable of advancing into positions with increased responsibilities.
•Must be willing and capable of working extra hours as needed, such as during year-end, quarter-end or month-end
The compensation package for this position includes a competitive base salary commensurate with experience and potential for stock options.
