With a mission of “Engaging Minds, Improving Lives,” the school seeks to cultivate innovative leaders who advance knowledge through research and teaching excellence, and who use the skills acquired at PAU to help make our world a better place. With its main campus near the Arastradero Preserve in Palo Alto, its community clinic in Los Altos , its embedded classes at local community colleges, and its work in the community throughout the Silicon Valley, PAU has 120 faculty and staff, currently serving 970 graduate and 157 undergraduate students, with over one-third identifying as a racial/ethnic minority student.
In 2016, PAU hired a dynamic new President, its first in over 30 years. One of her top priorities is to build on the strengths of the current Student Services department to create a full-service, student-centered support and resource experience for its students. The goal is to produce a strong sense of community and enhanced attention to the overall well-being of students, while providing opportunities for enrichment, PAU and community involvement, and self-sufficiency.
