Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Veterinary Cardiology (Tenure Track or Non-Tenure Track)
The University of Missouri-Columbia, College of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery invites applications for a faculty position in cardiology
The successful applicant will participate in the operation of a busy cardiology service with residents, a full-time technician, and veterinary students scheduled as part of the elective clinical cardiology rotation. Responsibility for teaching in the basic and advanced didactic courses will be shared by the two cardiology clinicians. Available state-of-the art equipment includes clinical and research angiography suites including digital fluoroscopy and cineangiography, a dedicated echocardiographic machine (Toshiba Artida™ featuring 4D imaging, speckle tracking, transesophageal echocardiography), a dedicated workstation, phonocardiography, and electrodiagnostic and pacing capabilities. Other services available in the hospital include digital radiography, ultrasonography, nuclear medicine, 64 slice CT, 3.0 Tesla MRI, video endoscopy, linear accelerator, radiotherapy facilities, and physical rehabilitation
facility. Collaborative research opportunities exist within the college, at the Dalton Cardiovascular Research Center, and at the School of Medicine, all located on the Columbia campus.
The position can be structured as either a tenure track or a clinical track depending upon the candidate’s interests and experiences. In either instance, the individual will be expected to contribute to the College’s overall goals through teaching, clinical service, collaborative or independent research and outreach, with the percent effort towards each to be commensurate with the chosen track.

This is a 1.0 FTE / 12 month appointment.
- Candidates must have a DVM or equivalent degree;
- Completion of a residency in veterinary cardiology; or Diplomate status in the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) or European College of Veterinary Medicine (ECVIM), specialty of cardiology;
- Eligibility for professional license to practice veterinary medicine in Missouri;
- Eligibility for BNDD and DEA certification in the State of Missouri.
Candidates will be assessed based upon educational and professional achievement. Research experience, communication skills, organizational skills, experience working effectively in diverse environments and letters of reference will all be considered in selection of a candidate. Potential for candidate to work within the framework of the veterinary medical teaching hospital services will be assessed.
