Tenure-Track Faculty; Instruction & Scholarly Communications Librarian

The University of North Alabama seeks an energetic, innovative, outgoing, and proactive tenure-track faculty member to engage in service-oriented instructional and research services. This 12-month position will provide library instruction to undergraduate and graduate students. The successful candidate will work individually and as part of an instruction team to develop, deliver, and assess traditional and electronic library instruction (including developing technology-based instructional materials).

This position is also responsible for leading scholarly communications efforts by staying abreast of academic publishing trends, serving as the library point of contact for copyright, and keeping the campus community informed on developments in scholarly communications by developing programs, workshops, and other activities to highlight the changing landscape of academic research and publishing.

In addition, librarians are expected to assume leadership roles within the library and the university. Faculty librarians must demonstrate a commitment to professional effectiveness, engage in an ongoing program of scholarship, and participate in professional service suitable to fulfill tenure and promotion requirements.

Minimum Qualifications: MLIS or equivalent from an ALA-accredited program required. Desired Qualifications: Professional experience in library instruction in an academic library; Recent experience and/or coursework in the provision of library instruction/information literacy; Experience dealing with copyright and working with researchers to resolve details related to copyright; Experience in, or demonstrated understanding of, scholarly communications. This includes, but is not limited, to OER, OAI, institutional repositories, and data curation; Experience using databases, discovery tools and web resources; Experience in providing reference/research assistance; Experience in creating tutorials, surveys, and guides; Demonstrated flexibility in dealing with people, technology, and multiple priorities.
