Position Summary Information

Job Summary / Basic Function

Provides instruction for students enrolled in Biology classes in the Allied Health and Sciences Department. Must be competent to teach courses in systems, equipment, operations, and other topics related to the discipline. Additional duties include advising, tutoring, student counseling, recruiting, and working with advisory committees. Teaching assignments may include day, evening, weekend, and summer classes.

  • Advise, tutor and recruit students.
  • Maintain office hours.
  • Teach day and/or evening classes and labs during the fall, spring, and summer semesters as required by the department.
  • Attend Teaching and Learning Center to upgrade teaching skills.
  • Awareness of national issues and trends in education and biology
  • Assist in the development of curriculum as needed.
  • Perform related duties as required.
  • Willing to develop skills necessary to teach on-line courses.
  • Responsible for maintaining and setting up equipment related biological science courses

    Minimum Qualifications
    A Master's Degree in Biology or Master's Degree with 18 graduate hours in Biology from a regionally accredited institution is required.

    A working knowledge in Microsoft Office Applications is required.

    Preferred Qualifications
    Community college or technical college teaching experience in Biology is preferred.

  • Possess good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possess good time management skills.

  • Possess basic skills in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of policies and procedures contained in TSUS and LIT Policies and Procedures Manual.
