The Department of Dermatology at the University of Florida (UF) College of Medicine (UFCOM) has initiated a national search to identify candidates to serve as the Chair of the Department of Dermatology. The successful candidate will be an accomplished academic dermatologist with a track record of clinical, research, teaching and administrative contributions in Dermatology, and who has the skills required to inspire, manage and mentor a talented and diverse faculty. The Department of Dermatology currently consists of 11-faculty, 12-residents, 1-dermatopathology fellow, 3-physician assistants, and a dedicated support staff.
Faculty in the UF Department of Dermatology provide a significant volume of patient care: 50,000 office visits annually and 1600 Mohs surgeries. Patient care revenues exceed $9 million, plus $7 million in Dermatopathology revenues, reflecting over 80,000 specimens. The department ranks second amongst all academic dermatology programs nationally in Dermatopathology volume.
The UF is one of three universities in the nation to host six health science colleges and its teaching hospital on the same campus as the parent university. UF is one of 60 members of the Association of American Universities. Its research enterprise of over $700M annually ranks it among the top public universities. Over the past 6 years, during a time of a flat NIH budget nationally, NIH funding at the UF COM has grown by 50 percent to nearly $100M.
Salary will be negotiable.
The successful M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. candidate will be qualified to be appointed at the rank of Associate or Full Professor in the College of Medicine and will be eligible for an unrestricted medical license in the state of Florida.
