Job Summary:

The Department of Pediatrics Section of General Pediatrics has an opening for a full-time Instructor position seeing patients in the newborn nursery at University of Colorado Hospital. This is a clinical position working in a high-volume area, involving both weekday and weekend coverage as well as holiday coverage. The faculty member is expected to provide independent, direct clinical services for newborns in the delivery room and the nursery. There will be an expectation of teaching, both bedside and small group, as well as some basic administrative duties (charting, involvement in clinical projects, managing your schedules, etc.).



Examples of Work Performed

Admission and discharge exams for newborns, anticipatory guidance with new parents, attendance at high-risk deliveries, circumcisions, management of common and complex newborn problems, guidance of trainees.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements
  • Advance Practice Provider

Condition of Employment:
  • Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check
  • Must be willing and able to pass a sex offenders background check

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple patients at a time
  • Good communication skills
  • Knowledge and experience with pediatric patients in a newborn setting
  • Ability to be flexible in both duties and schedule
  • Knowledge of working with a diverse and challenging population



Preferred Qualifications
  • 2 years of experience in clinical setting caring for newborns
  • Prior experience with working with learners/trainees in an Academic environment
  • Demonstration of Academic rigor is required

Salary and Benefits:

The hiring salary for this position is $85,000 - $97,000 and is negotiable and commensurate with skills and experience. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
