Flight Test Instrumentation Engineer

Location: Patuxent River, Md (Naval Air Station)

Clearance Needed: Secret is preferred or ability to be cleared; Must be a U.S. Citizen

Salary: $120K-$155K with full benefits (willing to pay relocation) W2

Start Date: Immediately

Job Description:

This position supports the test and evaluation of naval aircraft for the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division located at Patuxent River, Maryland. This position will serve as a member of an integrated test team. The incumbent provides instrumentation engineering liaison for the test aircraft during manufacturing, assembly, and testing. The engineer is responsible for the creation of instrumentation software configuration loads and coordinating the loads with data processing personnel; maintaining the measurement calibration database; providing test mission monitoring and real-time safety monitoring; support program reviews, support instrumentation maintenance activities (preflight, post flight and troubleshooting). The engineer is responsible for maintaining the configuration control documentation of the instrumentation system and for the documentation of instrumentation discrepancies, coordinating instrumentation inspection activities for flight clearances, and the engineering resolution of instrumentation problems on test aircraft. The engineer must also be cognizant of the status of the instrumentation system and measurements on aircraft at all times and be responsible for providing the status of the instrumentation required to support the upcoming tests to the test team.

Experience, Skills, Requirements and Information: Applicants for this position Must Have a minimum of five (5) years' experience in the design, installation and operation of instrumentation systems for the collection of test data in an aerospace industrial or military environment. Other relevant experiences desired are:

• Aerospace industry or military aircraft experience desired

• Experience in operations and maintenance of aircraft test instrumentation systems

• Experience in test configuration management.

• Experience in performing end to end calibrations of instrumentation sensors on aircraft.

• Experience in set-up and programming software to configure data acquisition hardware.

• Experience in set-up and programming of data processing software for system validation testing.

• Experience in OPSEC and COMSEC security procedures.

Education Required: A Bachelor's degree in an electronics or electrical engineering discipline from a school of engineering having a professional engineering curriculum which was accredited by the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET). A postgraduate degree is desirable.

Clearance Requirements: Must be a US Citizen and capable of holding a Secret Clearance. Preference will be given to applicants that hold or have previously held a security clearance. All resumes must state citizenship and security clearance status.
