The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign seeks nominations and applications for up to three full-time Associate Dean / Executive Associate Dean positions.

These positions serve as liaisons between the college and the academic units for academic, administrative and curricular issues. These positions have the responsibility of assuring reasonable and responsible process in the evolution, review, and implementation of academic and administrative policy, interact as appropriate with all levels of university administration, serve with selected College committees, interact with alumni and take responsibility for selected programmatic initiatives. Those appointed must be able to take initiative and act independently within College and campus policy guidelines. Those appointed will serve as key members of the Dean's Cabinet and assist the Dean in representing LAS to the campus and externally.

Executive Associate Dean appointees will also serve as the primary back-up for the Dean and help oversee the college administrative team.

Minimum qualifications:

Associate Dean -- must currently hold a tenured position at the rank of Professor in a unit in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Ph.D. required. Successful leadership experience is required. Leadership in the areas of science, social sciences or curriculum oversight is preferred.

Executive Associate Dean -- must currently hold a tenured position at the rank of Professor in a unit in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Ph.D. and at least two years of college-level administrative experience required.

These are full-time nine-month positions with summer support and an administrative stipend. Salary will be based upon the individual's current academic year salary plus adjustments for administrative responsibilities. Ideally appointments will be for a five-year term, after which the individual typically returns to his or her academic home department. Starting date: August 16, 2017 or earlier as negotiated.
