Position Summary: RESEARCH ASSISTANT PROFESSOR. The Division of General Medicine in the Department of Medicine at the UNC-CH School of Medicine has an opening for a Research Assistant Professor. The position will be part of a small team of health services researchers working on cancer prevention and control research, focusing primarily on clinical implementation of cancer screening programs. The individual should have experience in conducting practice-integrated research to improve cancer prevention and control, including patient-provider communication, shared decision-making and decision aids, and quality improvement-based implementation of cancer screening programs, Applicants should have substantial knowledge of clinical systems and workflows, and will work closely with clinicians, clinical support staff, academic scientists, and community partners to develop and implement evidence-based cancer screening programs. The fixed-term for the position is 1 year, and will be renewed annually based on performance review and availability of research funding.
Education Requirements: Requires Ph.D. in health services research or closely related field.
Qualification and Experience: Experience in conducting practice-integrated research to improve cancer prevention and control, including patient-provider communication, shared decision-making and decision aids, and quality improvement-based implementation of cancer screening programs. Ability to lead and collaborate with multidisciplinary research teams as well as care delivery teams and community partners. Demonstrated expertise in grant writing and peer-reviewed publications preferred. Ability to lead and participate on multidisciplinary teams seeking peer-review funding and high impact publications, and a plan for how this position will lead to a career as an independent research scientist. The candidate must have an interest in and ability to lead and collaborate with multidisciplinary research teams as well as care delivery teams. Demonstrated expertise in grant writing and peer-reviewed publication preferred.
