2017 August Biology Boot Camp
The student mentors will have the responsibility of helping Biology Camp participant's transition into the Biology degree program. In addition to their stipend, student mentors will receive complimentary room and board for the week of the program. Mentors will return to campus on Wednesday, August 9, 2017.
The student mentors will have the responsibility of helping Biology Camp participant's transition into the Biology degree program. In doing so, the student mentors will aid in the program check-in and implementation, which includes participation in social events, attending discussion and focus group sessions, as well as leading study group sessions throughout the program. Lecture attendance during the program in highly recommended, yet optional.
- Current biology students of the sophomore level or higher who are in good standing as determined by the Biology Boot Camp Program Director will be invited to participate in the program as student mentors.
- Student mentors will be expected to be knowledgeable with topics covered during the Biology Boot Camp which include; An introduction to Chemistry, Biomolecules (proteins, lipids, carbohydrates, and nucleic acids), Chemical Reactions and Enzymes, Cell Structures and Membrane Structure and Function.
- Student mentors are expected to have excellent communication skills, organization skills and basic computer skills.
