Job Summary: Skidmore College Dance and Theater Departments seek a well-rounded performing arts professional to join two departments doing conservatory level work within a liberal arts environment. The Theater Department produces two Black Box and two Mainstage productions per Season as well as numerous student-produced shows, occasional guest artists, and college-wide events. The Dance Department produces two faculty concerts, student performances, a senior capstone dance concert, as well as several guest artist and student club performances.

We are seeking someone who can demonstrate dedication and passion to the arts, especially within a liberal arts setting as well as a true collaborator who can lead our student crews by example.

The shared position between the Theater and Dance Departments is a multifaceted position.

The primary roles include:

Theater, Lead Scenic Painter & Props Artisan

Dance, Stage Manager & Technical Assistant

Additional Responsibilities include: Carpentry, light load-in, student crew head & facility maintenance

This is a nine-month, renewable, non-exempt position that comes with a full benefits package including: Vacation/sick time, health insurance, retirement package, and tuition remission for eligible family members.

Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent relevant professional experience in Theater Design/Production. Demonstrable ability as a scenic artist required, and props artisan experience preferred. Experience as a stage manager with either wardrobe/sewing or video editing skills preferred. Experience with ETC light boards and Q-lab sound software helpful. The successful candidate must be able to work with and lead students from a wide variety of majors and skill levels and also be able to lift 50 pounds.
