The Research Support Specialist performs a variety of duties supporting the School of Communication’s Associate Dean for Research and the activities of the Center for Communication, Culture, and Change. This individual serves as point person for research projects and grants managed through the Center and supports the administrative needs of the Associate Dean, who also serves as Director of the Center. Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Research Support
• Assists with development of appropriate protocol timelines, resource materials, and presentations.
• Assists Center efforts to secure grant funding for projects by researching potential grantors, preparing applications, fulfilling pre- and post-award requirements and drafting reports and other documents as requested by grantors. Ensures that all applications are submitted according to the grantor’s instructions and that deadlines are met.
• Conducts library and internet-based research.
• Works with Principal Investigators to screen participants, administers surveys and questionnaires, collects data from participant interviews, questionnaires, and other sources.
• Assists in preparation of reports and analysis regarding research, grants, and other Center activities.
• Organizes and handles the flow of information to and from study participants, including study participant contact information.
• Develops efficient strategies for following up with study participants on a regular basis.
• Serves as point person for research projects and grants managed through the Center.
• Assists the Associate Dean for Research in promoting the research efforts of the School and investigating new opportunities for School faculty. Administrative Support
• Monitors Center and research project budgets and performs other financial responsibilities (processing reimbursements, creating purchase orders, reconciling accounts).

• Monitors the maintenance of the Center website and creates content such as press releases and news clips. Responds to online and other inquiries to the Center in a timely manner.
• Prepares travel arrangements for Associate Dean for Research/Center Director and other faculty and researchers and provides support at conferences. Works to fulfill international travel requirements.
• Serves as host to guests of the Associate Dean for Research/Center and coordinates visits.
• Works with department Faculty Affairs liaison during searches and onboarding for visiting faculty.
• Interacts with community partners, serving as primary contact.
• Plans, organizes, and coordinates special events for the Center.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Excellent writing and research skills. Ability to prepare proposals and reports for audiences including grant-making organizations.
• Experience in managing social media platforms and website maintenance.
• Knowledge of visual design tools (InDesign, Photoshop, Adobe) and photography.
• Detail-oriented and able to follow precise instructions and requirements.
• Adaptable and willing to perform a variety of tasks.
• Skilled in time management and able to handle many concurrent projects.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Education Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.

Work Experience Requirements:
