JOB PURPOSE:

Comprised of Stanford University Medical School and Stanford Hospitals & Clinics, Stanford Medicine seeks an experienced professional for its Major Gifts team in Medical Center Development (MCD). This position will enhance the field capacity of major gift officers for greater strategic focus, cultivation, engagement, and stewardship of faculty, prospects, and donors.

Implement a specific fundraising program. Operate independently in assigned areas and take responsibility for prospect identification, proposal development, and coordination of internal support activities. Work with faculty, prospects, donors, volunteers, and other university staff to assist in establishing and maintaining relationships with all university constituencies. This requires a thorough understanding of the complexity behind relationship-building and strategies involved in securing major gifts, strong analytical skills and excellent written communications skills.

CORE DUTIES*:

Stanford is committed to a donor-centric approach to development. Every member of the Office of Development staff plays a role in providing the university's donors with the service and attention that ensures an exceptionally positive and fulfilling philanthropic experience.

  • Develop strategies to track and analyze results of development activities, solicitation assignments, and progress. Monitor, analyze, and report on overall results to internal and external constituencies.
  • Stay informed on current university initiatives and activities.
  • Implement and manage programs to involve targeted populations in fundraising and volunteer activities.
  • Work with a portfolio of assigned prospects or faculty to cultivate, solicit, and/or steward their support.
  • Establish ongoing relationships with individual alumni through personal visits, phone calls, and meaningful contacts.
  • Prioritize prospects, prepare background information, make volunteer assignments as appropriate, and follow up with volunteers to ensure completion of assigned solicitations.
  • Work closely with other colleagues in development to align program goals with the overall giving goals of the university's development organization.
  • Work under consultative or self-initiated direction to assess and produce relevant, standard, or custom information (reports, charts, graphs, and tables) from structured data sources by querying data repositories and generating the associated information. Distribute and disseminate reports to applicable agencies, researchers, management, and other internal end-users.
  • Devise methods for identifying data patterns, trends in available information sources using a variety of qualitative and quantitative techniques. Determine and recommend additional data collection and reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with technical staff to standardize and systemize routine reports, dashboards, and metrics. * - Other duties may also be assigned

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    Education & Experience:
    Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Advanced ability with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to work efficiently, juggle tasks simultaneously, meet deadlines, and achieve goals.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to interact with a wide range of people.
  • Outstanding communication skills and exceptional attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with both internal and external constituents.
  • Expert ability to collect data using a variety of methods, such as data mining and hardcopy or electronic documentation study, to improve or expand databases
  • Basic statistical ability
  • Ability to manage multiple activities in deadline-oriented environment; highly organized, flexible and rigorous attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to produce data in a clear and understandable manner meeting user requirements
  • Ability to take a leadership role on projects and with user/clients. Certifications and Licenses:
  • Valid California Non-commercial Class Driver's License. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:
  • Frequently perform desk-based computer tasks, sit, and use a telephone, stand/walk.
  • Occasionally light/fine grasping, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds, writing by hand.

    WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • May require working flexible hours, including nights and weekends. Regular travel may be required.
