The Office of Student Financial Aid Services (OSFAS) invites applications for a full-time, twelve-month Assistant Director of Systems. This individual will be responsible for managing the systems staff; planning and/or implementation of projects as well as the day-to-day technical operations within the OSFAS. Responsibilities include maximizing the effective use of technology in the administration of financial aid programs and developing and implementing processes to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations and University policies. The Assistant Director serves as a member of the management staff and works closely with the Manager of Technical Projects. The Assistant Director and Manager of Technical Projects report to the Associate Director for Office Operations.

Minimum Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience; previous management/supervisory experience; significant depth and breadth of knowledge of the principles, theories and concepts of enterprise software and a working knowledge of related fields; demonstrated knowledge of financial aid programs and business processes gained through at least 3 years' experience which demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of financial aid programs/systems, financial aid software, and business processes; an understanding of the dynamic nature of federal & state regulations; proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively with vendors, staff, administrators and users at all levels; proven ability to research, plan, coordinate, schedule, direct and monitor tasks, activities and assignments to effectively complete a project; flexibility and aptitude to work on multiple initiatives simultaneously; demonstrated effective written and oral communication, active listening and interpersonal skills; a history of successfully working under pressure of time and urgent deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree in a computer related field and three to five years of highly technical and progressively responsible experience which demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of mainframe hardware and software. High degree of individual initiative and strategic approach to tasks; excellent organizational and communication skills; demonstrated ability to think objectively and creatively, focusing not only on details, but accurately comprehending the larger issues and interrelationships; demonstrated positive and proactive approach in identifying problems and creating innovative solutions; in-depth knowledge of the set-up, usage, debugging, modifying, operating, analyzing, methods, screens, and data structures of PeopleSoft Campus solutions Financial Aid Module; experience with administering ImageNow or other electronic document imaging software; proven SQL, PL/SQL knowledge and skills; basic understanding of HTML, XHTML, JavaScript, and CSS; computer competency in MS Office products with the ability to easily learn new computer applications; an understanding of the security issues involved in maintaining and safeguarding institutional data; willingness and capacity to investigate, analyze and interpret data or information for accuracy and completeness in order to make informed decisions; flexibility to work beyond regular core business hours as needed.
