About The Unit: Court Theatre is the professional theatre of the University of Chicago, dedicated to innovation, inquiry, intellectual engagement, and community service. Court mounts theatrical productions that re-examine classic texts that pose the enduring and provocative questions that define the human experience.

Unit Job Summary: The Institutional Relations Manager will work with the Director of Development to create a strategy for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of corporate, foundation, and government entities that provide support of Court Theatre. Almost 40% of Court's contributed revenue is received from national and regional foundations, corporations, and public sources. The Institutional Relations Manager will oversee this portfolio, raising upwards of $750,000 in annual, renewable support. Responsibilities include: - Write letters of intent, proposals, grant applications, reports, and collect supporting documents. - Communicate with program staff to stay appraised of content and ensure that data for evaluation and reporting purposes is being collected and analyzed. - Research institutional entities and grant opportunities that will help fund Court Theatre projects and programs; create research briefings for senior staff and members of Court's Board of Trustees. - Interact with Trustees who have institutional connections to provide support for continuing those relationships, as well as discuss new funding opportunities. - Build relationships with funding administrators. - Coordinate onsite visits and meetings with institutional funders; discuss and/or present Court programs. - Attend community events or programs to meet and network with potential and current institutional funders. - Ensure proper recognition and benefit fulfillment of current institutional donors. - Liaise with the Foundation and Corporation Relations team in the University of Chicago Alumni Relations and Development department. - Manage a University of Chicago undergraduate intern for six months out of the year. - Be publicly enthusiastic and passionate about Court Theatre's mission and programs.

Unit Education: Bachelor's degree required.

Unit Experience: One to three years of experience in development, grant writing, the arts, or a related service-oriented field required. Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, and meet deadlines required. Strong communication (verbal and especially written), interpersonal, attention to detail, and organizational skills required. Fundraising experience in a higher education environment and/or proficiency with federal government grant submissions preferred.
