Job Summary: Appointment: Full time, tenure track, 12-month appointment, extension (87.5%)/teaching (12.5%) or a negotiated extension/research /teaching split with not less than 67% being extension. This position is located on the UGA Tifton Campus in Tifton, GA. General Duties and Responsibilities: Work closely with other extension and research faculty from AAE and other departments to deliver a nationally-recognized cotton marketing and/or production economics/farm management extension and applied research program. This program should address current and emerging state and national issues related primarily to cotton marketing, production economics/farm management, and policy. There is also the potential to work across commodity lines on specific topics or issues. Examples of specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to: providing timely market information to county agents and producers, conducting county agent in-service trainings, developing and updating annual enterprise budgets, and conducting economic analyses of different technologies. Participating in county meetings and working closely with county extension agents is also required. Communication of applied research results through refereed journal articles in applied economics and crop science journals and peer-reviewed extension bulletins is expected, as well as providing expertise to policy makers, industry and other constituents. Teaching responsibilities include one undergraduate class per year in farm management, agribusiness management, marketing, along with some academic advising. There is also an expectation of securing external funding and working with graduate students (primarily, but not limited to, MS and MAB students) in the department.

Minimum Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics, Applied Economics, Economics, or a closely-related field is required with strong knowledge of economic theory and quantitative methods, willingness to work in a team environment, and excellent oral and written communication skills in the English language. A working knowledge of US and southeastern production agriculture is highly-desirable but not required.
