UCLA is recruiting for an experienced and effective Director of Development, UCLA Extension to establish long-range goals and objectives that reflect the academic and outreach priorities of the Dean of UCLA Extension, the mission of the University and the fundraising goals of the campus. This position will work under the direction of the Assistant Vice Chancellor, College Development, and in consultation with the Dean of UCLA Extension. He/She will determine market feasibility for academic priorities and provide advice and counsel to the Dean, Associate Deans and other leadership.
The Director of Development will meet with volunteers and donors to cultivate and solicit prospective donors for major gifts and maintain active stewardship activities and awareness of individuals in the prospect pool. He/She will strategically plan, prepare for and participate in major gift solicitations. The Director will work to engage high-level volunteers to provide community linkage to development programs and to assist with specific solicitations and other programmatic elements as necessary. In addition, he/she will actively collaborate with Annual Giving, Planned Giving and other professional development officers to enhance the pool of major donor prospects.
The Director will be an effective manager, with proven management skills and strong communication skills. He/She will meet with staff in priority areas and gain knowledge of programs and areas of expertise and possess knowledge of fundraising at a research university. The Director will work harmoniously to motivate and organize volunteers, academic leaders, faculty, and other development staff toward the accomplishment of fundraising goals. He/She will have demonstrated ability to conceptualize and implement individual, corporate and foundation identification, cultivation and solicitation strategies. The Director will establish priorities and plan and implement special events.
