The Biology Department at Bucknell University invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position to begin August 2017. We seek a broadly trained biologist with specialization in the areas of organismal, evolutionary or ecological biology. The successful candidate must have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and an equally strong commitment to diversity, inclusion, and student-centered pedagogical approaches. The position carries a three-course load each semester as follows: in the fall semester, multiple sections of an introductory-level course in genetics for sophomore biology majors; in the spring semester, two upper-level courses, one with a lab/field component, within the candidate's area of expertise in organismal, evolutionary or ecological biology. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or be ABD at the time of appointment, together with relevant teaching experience or a demonstrated commitment to effective teaching.

Applications should include a cover letter, curriculum vitae, teaching statement, and three confidential letters of recommendation. Applications will only be accepted through Interfolio ByCommittee. Review of applications will begin March 24, 2017, and the search will remain open until the positions are filled. Questions about the position should be directed to Matthew Heintzelman (mheintze@bucknell.edu), Chair of Biology.
