Job Responsibilities and Duties: Reporting to the Web Programming Team Leader while also responsible to the Director of Marketing, the web programmer performs a variety of Internet and web programming functions for the University. The web programmer works closely with Marketing’s web coordinator.
Essential Job Functions: Responsibilities include, but not limited to the following:
- Complete web-related design and implementation tasks as prescribed by the Director of Marketing.
- Identify, justify, design, code, and test program applications to meet the needs of the University departments including Marketing.
- Support current web pages/applications for the University web sites, including Telerik Sitefinity and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server.
- Support and help develop electronic forms in order to integrate as many University processes as possible.
- Attend meetings to provide insight and technical information regarding web and portal functionality.
- Ensure that all system modifications conform to the University’s self-audit policies.
- Maintain and expand skill set to include new development technologies.
- All other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Secondary Job Functions
- Assist in special events, such as graduation, summer orientation, move-in day, among others
- Participate in University-wide activities such as committees, etc., when appropriate.

- Bachelor’s degree in computer science preferred. High school diploma required.
- Minimum of three to five years web programming experience required.
- Experience with Telerik Sitefinity and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server preferred.
- SQL database knowledge required with Microsoft SQL Server preferred.
- Should have experience configuring IIS and the ability to maintain a Windows server running IIS.
- Should have experience developing web sites based on current W3C standards. All sites should be Section 508 accessible.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products – specifically Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Access.
- Must be capable of producing quality technical documentation for archival and training purposes.
- Professional appearance and the ability to interact effectively with persons at all organizational levels are essential. Must represent the Manchester University with the highest degree of professionalism.
- Must be highly self-directed, well organized, detail oriented and comfortable completing tasks with a minimum of direct supervision.
- Must possess the ability to multitask and coordinate multiple office activities simultaneously while completing assigned tasks in an accurate and timely manner.
- Must be trustworthy with knowledge of confidential University business data.
- Must be able to consistently present a positive attitude and contribute to a harmonious team environment.
- Must be able to flex work schedule to meet occasional demands of the University ITS operations.
- Must be able to type in a professional manner and at a professional speed.

Work Schedule: This is a full time, non-exempt position. Forty (40) hours per week (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM M-F) will be the general rule but scheduling flexibility is important. There will be times per month when the normal job requirements will require early morning or late night hours. Depending on the project cycles and workflow demands of the University, additional hours or workday schedule changes may be required occasionally.
