The Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Cancer Biology at the University of Virginia seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work in the laboratory of Dr. Anna Cliffe. The position will involve working with primary neurons and animal models to investigate the molecular mechanisms of Herpes Simplex Virus latency and neuronal specific response to viral infection. Specific projects include the compartmentalization of immune responses in neurons, the role of epigenetics in HSV latency and reactivation and the changes associated with neuronal maturation and aging.
The successful candidate must be a recent PhD graduate or have a PhD in hand by the start and have demonstrated expertise in virology, innate immunity, epigenetics or neuronal biology.
This position is restricted and contingent upon the continuation of funding.
