Professional Research Assistant

Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism & Diabetes is looking for a Professional Research Assistant for studies investigating how skeletal muscle lipids relate to insulin resistance in vivo and in vitro.

Candidate must work independently running prepping samples for western blots, running gels, quantifying data, and interpreting data. Work independently with extensive cell culture work including viral up and down regulation of protein expression, insulin sensitivity, and protein activation assays. Independently troubleshoot and develop a method for sub-membrane fractionation in human skeletal muscle cells based on previous work in our laboratory. Prepare blood samples for stable isotope enrichment using GC/MS. Run glucose analyzer during clinical studies on the clinical translational research center. Also perform routine laboratory duties such as making solutions, washing glassware.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree and lab experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Western blotting
  • Clinical research
  • Cell culture sterile technique
  • GC/MS preparation instrumentation
