Program Coordinator: Brockton 100 Males to College
Department Summary: The Department of Higher Education has created an initiative - the 100 Males to College Initiative - to encourage local school districts, community organizations and public universities and colleges to collaborate in programming so that 100 young high school males can be encouraged and supported through their preparation and entry into higher education.
Position Summary: The Brockton 100 Males to College Program is looking for a Program Coordinator who will serve as liaison for and leader of a pilot cohort of up to 50 high school-aged low income and or males of color in Brockton who will participate in this initiative. The program will be based on a positive, asset-based youth development model that embraces culture, identity, and community. This part-time position will be funded for up to 602 hours from March 2017 to September 2017.
Essential Duties: * Promotes and markets the Brockton 100 Males to College initiative * Assists in the recruitment efforts of at least 50 male high school students who are low income and/or of color * Coordinates a team of college student mentors , including all face-to-face meetings and activities * Serves as a liaison between the high schools and the participating university and college partners * Serves as a liaison between the youth engaged in the project and any community supports / community based organizations that may be needed * Maintains records on youth involvement and related program activities * Researches and works towards obtaining funding streams to support the program * Conducts regular evaluative reporting on the program * Maintains a presence on the 100 Males to College Steering committee and reports on progress and all activities * Performs other duties as requested
Required Qualifications: 1. Experience in teaching or supporting high school aged youth in college and career readiness 2. Knowledge of and familiarity with a variety of community based organizations in the greater Brockton area and the availability of their services 3. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail 4. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively , both oral and written 5. Availability to work after school hours, including some evenings and weekends 6. Experience creating and implementing assessments and producing data driven reports
Preferred Qualifications: 1. Previous experience working with a multi-agency group or consortium 2. Experience with demonstrated cultural competency in previous work experience 3. DESE-licensed educators with experience in high school teaching or administration
