Position Summary

Denver Law is hiring for a full-time, 12-month faculty position to teach in its Legal Externship Program. The faculty member will work with other colleagues on the Legal Externship team in a variety of ways, including: developing student field placement opportunities; advising students in selecting appropriate placements; engaging with supervisors; and monitoring, supervising, and teaching students throughout the externship experience. The position will begin no later than May 15, 2017.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and monitor externship placements for students.
  • Advise students concerning the selection of appropriate externships.
  • Work with supervisors to ensure appropriate training, development, and feedback for externs.
  • Ensure that placement experiences are in compliance with Denver Law and American Bar Association standards.
  • Teach externship classes designed to complement students placement experiences.
  • Work as part of the dedicated and creative team to elevate the visibility and stature of the Denver Law Externship Program at the local, regional, and national levels.

Required Qualifications

Assistant Visiting Professor of the Practice of Law

  • J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited institution
  • Minimum of two years of law practice experience and/or law teaching experience
  • Admission to the Bar of any state

Associate Visiting Professor of the Practice of Law

  • J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited institution
  • Minimum of five years of law practice experience and/or law teaching experience
  • Admission to the Bar of any state

Visiting Professor of the Practice of Law

  • J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited institution
  • Minimum of seven years of law practice experience and/or law teaching experience
  • Admission to the Bar of any state
