General Summary of Position:
University Relations is responsible for promoting the university to the campus, prospective students and families, alumni, granting institutions, legislators, the region and the general public.

The executive communications specialist will write and edit speeches, talking points, presentations, opinion pieces, award applications and other materials.

This is a part-time, non-benefited, non-unit position, up to 18.5 hours per week.

1. Write prepared remarks, including speeches and talking points, and briefings for speaking engagements
2. Create reports, slideshows and presentations
3. Assist in maintaining of administrative websites and social media accounts, in collaboration with web content staff
4. Gather information and craft applications for university awards submissions
5. Write and edit op-eds, letters to the editor and other materials for external and internal publications

Minimum Qualifications (Required):
-Bachelor's degree in journalism, English or related field
At least five years of relevant experience, including speechwriting
-Facility with social media strategies and implementation
Evidence of strong writing, editing and communications skills
-The ability to work effectively with diverse groups
-Knowledge of AP Style
-Ability to meet deadlines
-Professional discretion
-Proficiency with presentation software (e.g. PowerPoint, Prezi)

**REQUIRED WRITING SAMPLES: Applicants must submit 3 writing samples of which at least one or more are speeches. These should be uploaded together in one file and attached to the link provided.

This is a part-time, non-benefited, non-unit position, up to 18.5 hours per week.
