POSITION SUMMARY: 

The School of Extended Education provides both academic and non-credit programming and develops partnerships and other community focused engagement in order to facilitate the School and University’s strategic plans and initiatives. Directors are a part of the School’s leadership team providing direction and guidance toward the attainment of these plans and initiatives.  This Extended Education Program Director is responsible for leading the development and management of multi-site, multi-discipline, non-credit and credit bearing educational offerings.  The Director serves as a mentor and sponsor as well as cross functional and departmental team builder.  As a community connector, the incumbent will build and maintain strategic partnerships with internal and external stakeholders including other Brandman schools, campuses and departments; professional organizations; relevant businesses and industries; and influential individuals who can provide input as to workforce development, market needs, and program development.   

TYPE OF SUPERVISION RECEIVED:  General direction from the Dean of Extended Education

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:   
Essential functions:  100% of time

  • Participate in Extended Education business practice development, maintenance and review
  • Using evidence based methodologies, identify prospective program areas
  • Develop and maintain new credit and non-credit bearing programs appropriate to support Brandman University and School of Extended Education’s strategic plan and initiatives
  • Develop and maintain partnerships and stakeholder relationships
  • Prepare and utilize budgets and forecasts to deliver fiscally viable programs within the context of the Extended Education goals and objectives
  • Develop and implement strategic marketing plans
  • Manage and develop staff
  • Develop and implement continuous process improvement plans for program development, program review and staff development
  • All other duties as assigned

 

Previous Experience:  

Required: 

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic plans
  • Demonstrated management experience
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage budgets
  • Demonstrated program or project management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage partnerships and teams
  • Demonstrated ability to provide research based decisions 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience working in higher education within academic affairs

Knowledge and Education:  
Required:

  • Master’s level degree or equivalent related work experience
  • Microsoft Office Suite Apps

Desired:

  • Specialized subject matter training and/or certification
  • Understanding of adult learning theory and practice
  • General academic affairs policies and procedures re development and maintenance of academic credit bearing programs and integrated learning pathways to the same
