The Mercyhurst University community seeks a Dean for the Ridge College of Intelligence Studies and Applied Sciences to move this dynamic and innovative college to its next level of academic excellence.

Mercyhurst University is a Catholic, comprehensive liberal arts institution founded in 1926 by the Sisters of Mercy. With campuses in Erie and North East, PA and satellite locations in downtown Erie and Corry, Mercyhurst is an academic community of nearly 4,000 students and 556 dedicated faculty, administrators and staff. The university educates students for purposeful lives and careers through academic programs of national and international distinction, unique cultural, extra-curricular and athletic programs, and opportunities for service.

Named after Erie native Tom Ridge, 43rdgovernor of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and first Secretary of Homeland Security, the Ridge College of Intelligence Studies & Applied Sciences brings together complementary academic disciplines that stress critical thinking, data analysis and collaborative decision-making. Serving as a Center of Excellence for distance and online learning, the Ridge College takes the lead in exploring, designing and developing new ways to deliver professional education.

The Ridge College consists of eight undergraduate departments and four graduate departments. The over 700 undergraduates and 210 graduate on the Erie campus and more than 110 students on the North East campus are taught by 34 full-time dedicated and student-centered faculty. As a community that believes strongly in applied and active learning, most faculty are themselves successful practitioners as well as academics. The college is housed in the newest academic building, the Center for Academic Engagement.

The Dean serves as the Ridge College's chief academic officer, assuming responsibility for strategic leadership and operational management. The Dean reports directly to the Provost & Vice President for Academic Affairs and oversees the areas of faculty recruitment, development, and evaluation; external relations; budget management and resource allocation; program and curriculum development and assessment; strategic planning; and maintaining regional, state, and national accreditation.
