Job Description
The University of South Carolina invites applications for one full-time instructor position in the Department of Anthropology to begin August 2017. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses for the South Carolina Honors College, advising undergraduate students, directing undergraduate student research as needed, providing service to the Department of Anthropology at USC-Columbia, and keeping up with new and developing knowledge and issues in the field. The position is a non-tenure track, 9-month appointment with a teaching load of 8 courses for the academic year.

Minimum Qualifications
A PhD in Anthropology or closely related field field at the time time of appointment.

Applicants must be capable of teaching introductory Honor's level Biological Anthropology that satisfies Carolina Core science requirements (ANTH 161-a four credit lab course is the primary duty). Ability to teach Honor's level BIOL 243 is a plus. See sample syllabus at

Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated successful college-level teaching. Commitment to excellence in teaching and fostering student learning is expected.
