Chemeketa Community College welcomes applications for a part-time Building Inspection Instructor

Position Summary

This is a part-time faculty pool for available assignments during the 2016/17 academic year. Applications are considered throughout the academic year and reviewed based on department need. Duties and Responsibilities

Teaches assigned classes in building inspection following approved course outline; prepares and develops materials for assigned classes; provides students and college with course syllabi and recommends textbooks and other instructional material and/or equipment.
Provides classroom environment conducive to learner growth in a variety of delivery methods (individualized, small group, lecture/discussion); instructional duties and group facilitation.
Maintains student records of grades and attendance; scores practice tests and develops student educational plans.
May participate in curriculum development; may recommend textbooks and other instructional materials/equipment; may recommend library and reference materials; may recommend course outline revision.
Keeps current on technological changes, developments in subject area, and innovative teaching techniques.
Understands, develops, and provides a learning environment that supports diversity and incorporates a sensitivity to diversity in the workplace.
Promotes and applies the college's values for teaching and learning; creates a learning climate of mutual respect and fairness; encourages creative and critical thinking; actively engages students in the learning process; facilitates learning that applies to and enriches a students; encourages mutual responsibility for a supportive learning environment; clarifies expectations and encourages student responsibility for learning; and promotes learning as a life-long process.
Performs other related duties as directed.

Terms of Employment:

Requires flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include evenings and/or weekends
Requires the provision of official transcripts upon hire
Upon hire, must pass security inquiry which may include criminal and/or driving history; only information relevant to the position will be considered.
Initial salary placement will rarely extend Step 1.

$36.72 - $52.45 / Hourly


Associates Degree in Building Inspection Technology or related field
5(five) years' experience in inspection/plan review
Current State of Oregon certification as A-level Building InspectorAlevel Plans Examiner and A- level Mechanical Inspector.

International Code Council (ICC) certified as Building Inspector (B1, B2), Plans Examiner (B3, R3, M3), and Mechanical Inspector (M1, M2).
(Those having current ICC certification must obtain current State of Oregon certification within 6 months after date of employment)
