The Department of Communication Studies seeks an enthusiastic and dynamic teacher for a full-time lecturer position in Public Relations/Strategic Communication. An M.A. or PhD. in Communication or related field, previous experience in the public relations/strategic communication profession, and college level teaching experience are required. Candidates should be eager and qualified to teach Writing for Public Relations (COMM 344) and two or more of the following courses: Principles of Public Relations, Issue Management and Crisis Communication, Public Relations Campaigns, Nonfiction Writing and Reporting, Publication Design and Makeup. Professional and/or teaching experience in journalism a plus.
The Communication Studies department is comprehensive, growing, collegial, and the largest major in the College of Arts and Letters. The department has concentrations in human and organizational communication, media studies, and public relations. Our students and faculty are active in community service and scholarly/creative activities, and have won numerous awards in both areas.

TYPICAL ACTIVITIES: The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate courses in public relations and journalism.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: MA in Communication or related field, professional experience in Public Relations/Strategic Communication, university teaching experience in relevant courses.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: The position is a full time, renewable one-year appointment. The successful candidate will become part of our full-time faculty and as such will help shape our curriculum. The department is in the midst of growth and transformation and this faculty member will play an important role in that process.
