The Senior Director for Policy and Strategic Initiatives for Student Financial Aid at The Ohio State University will, in conjunction with the Director of Operations, assist the Executive Director with comprehensive strategic planning and administrative leadership as it relates to Student Financial Aid. Reporting to the Executive Director of Student Financial Aid, the Senior Director for Policy and Strategic Initiatives will assist the Executive Director in evaluating and creating financial aid strategies to support enrollment goals; collaborate with the Executive Director in planning and implementing the future direction of the office in support of the University Strategic Plan; provide oversight for the development of a comprehensive debt and default management program; assist with the implementation of university initiatives in relation to Title IV aid; assist the Executive Director in evaluating the use of data to support strategic initiatives and daily operations; provide leadership and direction for the Communications, Compliance, and Scholarships/ Funds Management areas; serve as a liaison with colleges, departments, extended campuses, secondary and post-secondary communities in matters related to financial aid; works with staff on implementing a comprehensive performance management process including setting expectations through performance planning, providing on-going coaching/mentoring, and reinforcing expectations through constant performance feedback and appropriate action; perform other duties at the request of the Executive Director of Student Financial Aid. The Senior Director for Policy and Strategic Initiatives is charged with making management decisions in the absence of the Executive Director and representing the Executive Director of Student Financial Aid during his/her absence. 

Required:  Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education/experience; a minimum of seven to ten (7-10) years of progressively responsible financial aid experience, including supervision of full-time professional financial aid staff, and a working knowledge of federal and state regulations relative to financial aid administration; this position requires successful completion of a background and credit check; Desired: Master’s Degree is preferred; financial aid experience at the Director level is preferred; demonstrated progressive employment history in the successful administration of financial aid administration at a post-secondary institution with a large, culturally diverse student population; experience with PeopleSoft SIS is desired.
