General Description of Position:

The Department of Grain Science and Industry is seeking applications for Fellow Post-Doctoral position. This position will be conducting research and undertake the feed microbiology and toxicology lab.

The Pet Food Program was started in 2011 to provide an academic home for the emerging area of pet food and companion animal nutrition sciences. Kansas State University has a long history in animal food and nutrition research and training, and the campus has a strong culture of working with animals and industry.  The industry adds value to agriculture and food production, and provides a significant employment base.

Job Description:

The employee will design experiments, preform the experiments and analyze the data independently: 

  • Conduct independent  research in the area of Grain, Feed and Pet Food Microbiology and Toxicology.
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for new Feed Safety Research lab in the O.H. Kruse Feed Technology Center
  • Manage the Grain, Feed and Pet Food Microbiology and Toxicology Lab
  • Give Presentations at Local, State Regional National and International Conferences

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D, Food Microbiology or closely related field. 
  • Experience with developing and testing BSL-2 SOPs and molecular characterization of Salmonella. 
  • Microbiological background and expertise to manage and conduct research and lab.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

It is preferable for candidates to have prior research experience.

Salary Range / Pay Rate:

$47,000 to $50,000
