Posting Summary:
The Accounting Area at the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia is seeking applications for a Lecturer in Commerce position (non-tenure track) beginning Fall Semester of 2017. Instructional responsibilities will vary depending on the needs of the Area but the expectation will be that five sections are to be taught across the two full semesters in each academic year. The two or three sections to be taught each semester are expected to be from the following: undergraduate introductory and intermediate financial accounting, undergraduate introductory managerial, and graduate level accounting courses. The graduate level courses to be taught, e.g., financial, auditing, and/or tax, will be determined by the expertise of the general faculty member hired and needs of the Area. The strongest candidates will have demonstrated excellence in teaching accounting at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. The candidate for this position must possess a Ph.D. in Accounting.

Currently, the McIntire School of Commerce (http://www.commerce.virginia.edu) awards a Bachelor of Science in Commerce, a Master of Science in the Management of Information Technology, a Master of Science in Accounting, and Master of Science in Commerce. McIntire is recognized for excellence and innovation in undergraduate and graduate business education and scholarship. In the 2014 annual ranking of undergraduate business programs, Business Week magazine ranked the McIntire School of Commerce second in the nation; the only school to be ranked amongst the top two every year since the list's inception.

McIntire serves over 650 undergraduates and 300 graduate students. Undergraduate students enter the McIntire School in their third year at the University and concentrate in at least one of six fields: accounting, finance, information technology, international business, management and/or marketing. The major professional services firms (e.g., accounting, consulting, IT services, and investment banks) and Fortune 500 corporations actively recruit McIntire graduates. McIntire is located in a 156,000 square foot academic complex on the Lawn in the heart of UVA's historic Central Grounds, designed by Thomas Jefferson. Charlottesville is located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and is consistently rated highly as a desirable location to live.
